E*Motion
I recently heard something in a podcast that said that emotions are energy in motion, so E (energy) Motion. Oh my goodness, why have I not heard of this before?
It falls into perfect alignment with the energy clearing that happens in therapy. The places you feel stuck are the places where the emotions are blocked, which is why they cannot flow into the motion.
The challenge then becomes, how much will you allow yourself to feel?
Feeling your emotions, such as anger, sadness, joy, frustration, disappointment, whatever it happens to be, allows it to flow, which keeps it in motion. When you are in the flow, the emotions come and go rather quickly. We go through such a gamut of emotions day in and day out, that is normal.
When you try to stuff your feelings, ignore them, project them onto someone or something else, they become stuck, stagnant, not flowing. You create a dam.
Everything becomes dry. It becomes hard. You feel parched. Emotions cannot move through you without your allowance.
Then as more emotions come in, they too become built up and soon the pressure of the kept in emotions feels like it’s too much to hold. Sooner or later the dam will break. If you have ever seen a dam break, it does not happen slowly. It is not subtle by any means.
This is often times the cause of break downs. Some may call them “episodes”. Where emotions run over the dam, out of control and flood into your body. This causes ‘uncontrollable emotions’. Your coping mechanisms, your strategies for holding down the ‘fort’ within yourself lose all composure, lose all of their capacity to stop the flow. It comes in like a tidal wave. An emergency, life or death situation. All you can do is hold on and ride it out.
That is all you can do when your dam has already been built up and the water (emotions) have already begun to overflow.
The key here, again, is to allow yourself to feel all of your emotions as they come up, so that you stay in flow.
No dam.
Just flow.
The energy clearing in therapy helps you to become aware of where there are dams and breaks in the motion of your energy (Emotions) and allows you to release them without the overwhelming breaking down of the dam.
Where do you need let go, so you can be in the flow?
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
